New Diaper Design Leaks A LOT

Posted May 31st, 2008 by jahnavi

So, I do not like the new diaper design. The first thing I noticed is that when I bought the most recent package of Stage 2 diapers the quantity went from 48 to 40 yet the price was basically the same. I was really irritated but went ahead with the purchase since I didn't have a good alternative at the time.

Then I noticed the tabs are wider upon the first use. The other changes were less apparent. But in this package of new diapers I have had DAILY leaks. Both from the legs and up the back. My little girl is not the kind who frequently has blowouts so I was surprised. And the amount of poo in the diapers has not increased over the past few weeks. But the number of stains on her clothes and mine have. So I pulled one of the old style diapers that was in my diaper bag out so I could compare. The other visible differences are that the new diapers are more narrow and taller than the old style. I am guessing that maybe the elastic or something else has changed because you would think with a taller diaper there would be less opportunity for leaks up the back... but not this time. I have had leaks occasionally and have been accepting of this because it was as I said, occasionally. But now it's daily and I am having to stain treat most everything my daughter wears as well as some of my clothes too. I am mostly complaining about the poo leaks, but we have had about as many wet leaks too. I am really disappointed in this product now and am looking at alternatives because this level of performance is unacceptable.

I have been a loyal 7th Gen customer of many products over the past several years, and I didn't even look into any other diaper alternatives other than cloth before my daughter was born. Is there any chance that you will bring the old style and quantity back? I am sure I am not the only consumer having real issues with the new diapers.

Diaper Leaks

I, too, am having issues with the new design. The old design would keep my son dry through the night, now I am having to change his bed every morning due to leaks. Leaks also happen occasionaly during the day, mostly around his legs. I'm considering trying gDiapers.

I actually love these

I actually love these diapers. I have had overnight pounds it seems of urine and no leaks at all. I am not familiar with the older version though.

The "old" and "new" styles of the 7th gen diapers are both available on diapers.com, for those of you concerned about the style & price!

I hate the new tabs but they don't leak and never have.

New Packaging

I have found that these diapers are the best in preventing overnight leaks. However I am very disappointed that the amount of diapers per package has decreased and the price has increased. I know prices are rising with everything, but at least keep the same amount of diapers. The best bet to off set the price and number of diapers per package is to use the less costly and the more per package Walmart or Target brands during the day and the 7th Generation ones during the night.

new tabs, design

I have had leak problems too, mostly due to the wider straps. The straps also rub against my son's chubby thighs and irritate the skin more than the old design did.

New Design Needs to Go

We too have been very disappointed in the new design. We were very pleased with the former version, and I'm sad to say that we won't continue to buy the new diapers.

is seventh generation listening to the hate of the new tabs?

I have gone to several websites and forums and seen that no one likes the NEW BIG TAB designs and I am wondering if they are reading the forums and making changes.

seems like the majority is looking elsewhere to other companies for diapers.

A bigger size?

I am not familar with the old design, but I love the new design. It actually wors great for my son, who goes through diapers quite frequently. My friend had the problem with leaking, but she bought the next size up, and it fixed the problem. She loves using them now too!

I love the big tabs. They stay on better.

The amount of diapers per package could definitely use an improvement though, especially for the price.
